When
word got out that The Rolling Stones would be appearing at Rentschler
Field in East Hartford, HM editor Richard Urban e-mailed me requesting
that my column should be about the upcoming concert. I quickly
thought to myself that this attempt to get The Rolling Stones
into Connecticut was so simple and easy that I could barely fill
a paragraph, much less a column. I didn’t want to tell Richard
that, of course, because I always want him to think that every
concert I bring to town takes great effort, and that the big ones
require me to climb high mountains and cross very deep seas to
get that artist into Connecticut. But this Rentschler Field show
was simply a matter of taking a phone call from The Rolling Stones
office and agreeing with them that Rentschler Field would be a
great venue for the band to play.
